Dryden Artist Tanya McArthur Brings Whimsical Handcrafted Toys to Dyment Park Art Sale
The Dyment Recreation Hall and Park was the place to be earlier this week as residents and visitors from across Northwestern Ontario gathered for a spectacular Canada Day Festival and artist market.
The widely attended event brought the community together for a day packed with live music, excellent food, and family-friendly activities. Among the festival’s major highlights was the artist market, which showcased an array of talent from regional crafters and makers.
A Showcase of Local Craftsmanship
One of the local artists on display was Dryden artist Tanya McArthur, whose beautifully detailed, handcrafted stuffed animals stole the hearts of many attendees.
McArthur’s signature plush creations, featuring meticulously stitched yarn animals like elephants and giraffes, stood out for their exceptional quality and whimsical charm. Festival-goers lined up to admire the intricate stitch work, with many of the pieces finding new homes with families from across the region.

A True Community Celebration
The success of the artist market mirrored the overall energy of the celebration. Throughout the day, the Dyment Recreation Hall grounds echoed with the sounds of local musicians, while food vendors kept the crowds fueled with classic festive treats.
For northern communities, events like these are a vital showcase for local talent. Thanks to artists like Tanya McArthur and the hardworking organizers at Dyment Park, this year’s Canada Day proved to be a memorable celebration of regional culture, art, and community spirit.
