A full recap of the 2026 Melgund Canada Day Festival featuring musicians, local artists, and community sponsors who made the celebration possible through strong regional support.
The 2026 Canada Day Festival, artist market, and silent auction in Melgund Township was made possible through strong community collaboration and support. This year’s celebration brought together local talent, volunteers, businesses, and organizations in a shared effort to create a meaningful and vibrant Canada Day experience for residents and visitors.
A key highlight of the event was the live music that helped shape the atmosphere throughout the day. Special thanks go to the musicians Gerry and Tanya McArthur and Walter and Friends for bringing energy, warmth, and joy to the celebration through live performance. Their contribution added an essential cultural layer to the festival and helped create a welcoming environment for attendees of all ages.

The artist market showcased a wide range of local creative work, reflecting the strength and diversity of regional arts in northwestern Ontario. Appreciation is extended to participating artists Francine Higgins, Rob Franklin, Tanya McArthur, Joanne Keewaycabo, Terri Bell, and Leanne Nicholson. Their work formed the creative core of the event and helped make the Canada Day gathering both visually engaging and culturally grounded.

This year’s silent auction and overall festival programming would not have been possible without the generous support of a wide range of community partners and sponsors. Deep appreciation is extended to The Nuclear Waste Management Organization (NWMO), Wellwise, QSL Bait and Tackle, No Frills, Tim Hortons, Downtown Dollar, Sandy Point Camp, Unifor, Balla Bros. Rentals, B&M Delivery Services, Safeway, Solomons, CKDR, Napa Auto Parts, Dingwall Ford Dryden, Suntract Contracting and Rentals, Bath Bomb Babe, The Arts Incubator Winnipeg, Ruby Hastings Smith Tupperware, Art Borups Corners, Melgund Recreation, Arts and Culture, EMCON Services, Tupperware, Ella Lynn’s, Skene Transfer and Supply, Lacie Meens, P.I. Restaurant, and the Local Services Board of Melgund.

Events like this rely on sustained community involvement, and this year’s Canada Day celebration is a clear example of what can be achieved when local businesses, artists, organizations, and volunteers contribute toward a shared goal. The festival continues to grow as a cultural anchor in Melgund Township, strengthening community ties and supporting local arts, recreation, and economic activity.
See you at next year’s Canada Day Festival!
