Support your local community by taking part in our Beer and Alcohol Can Fundraiser, an easy and impactful way to give back while recycling. All eligible beverage containers can be dropped off at the Dyment Recreation Hall during scheduled collection times, where they will be sorted and redeemed to raise funds for community programming, recreation initiatives, and local arts and culture projects. Every can donated helps turn everyday recycling into meaningful support for events, spaces, and activities that bring people together across Melgund Township and surrounding communities. It’s a simple act with a lasting community impact—clean out, drop off, and help build something stronger locally.

With Every Can, You Support Your Community

The Alcohol Bottle & Can Recycling Fundraiser in Melgund Township is a community-led initiative that turns refundable beverage containers into direct support for local recreation, arts, and cultural programming. By donating eligible beer cans, beer bottles, wine bottles, and spirit containers through Ontario’s deposit-return system, residents help fund community events, youth activities, and local services.

This program makes it easy to give back while recycling responsibly. Every container returned contributes to reducing waste and strengthening community programming across Melgund Township and Northwestern Ontario.

What We Collect

We accept Ontario deposit-return eligible alcohol beverage containers only, including beer cans and bottles, wine bottles, and spirit containers where applicable. All items should be rinsed and reasonably sorted before drop-off.

We cannot accept non-alcoholic beverage containers, household recyclables, non-deposit packaging, contaminated items, or hazardous materials.

Drop-Off Location & Hours

Empty alcohol beverage containers can be dropped off at the Dyment Recreation Hall during scheduled collection times:

  • Mondays: 1:00–4:00 p.m.
  • Wednesdays: 1:00–4:00 p.m.
  • Saturdays: 10:00–11:00 a.m.

These scheduled hours ensure efficient collection and processing through Ontario’s deposit-return system, helping maximize returns for community programming.

How the Fundraiser Works

Community members drop off their empty alcohol containers at the Dyment Recreation Hall during collection hours. Volunteers then sort and return the containers through the Ontario deposit-return system. All refunds collected are reinvested directly into local recreation, arts, and cultural initiatives.

This simple process turns everyday recycling into meaningful community funding.

Why This Matters

This recycling fundraiser helps reduce waste, supports environmental sustainability, and creates ongoing funding for community-driven programming in Melgund Township. It is a practical way for residents to contribute to recreation, arts, and culture while participating in responsible recycling.
