Upcoming Events

The Nuclear Waste Management Organization is inviting residents and land users in the area of Canada's proposed Deep Geological Repository for used nuclear fuel to participate in a Diet and Land-Use Survey. The information collected will help inform local perspectives as the project moves through the federal regulatory process.

The survey can be completed online or through an in-person interview at the Ignace Learn More Centre. It is open until September 7, 2026, and participants will have the opportunity to enter a draw to win one of twenty C$125 gift cards redeemable at local businesses.
Travelling through Northwestern Ontario this month? Make plans to stop in Melgund Township on July 1 for the popular Canada Day Festival hosted by Melgund Recreation, Arts and Culture at the Dyment Recreation Hall. This family-friendly community celebration features live music, delicious food, and a vibrant artists, crafters, and vendors market showcasing local talent and handmade goods from across the region. By attending, visitors are helping support local artists, artisans, small businesses, and community organizations while contributing to the growth of arts, culture, and recreation in Northwestern Ontario. Surrounded by the beauty of Northern Ontario, the festival offers a chance to get out of the city, explore the bush, connect with local communities, and enjoy a full day of entertainment, culture, shopping, and small-town hospitality.
