Weekly Unfinished Tales and Short Stories from our Dataset
This collection presents a daily selection of short stories drawn from the extensive dataset of the ‘Unfinished Tales’ project, an interdisciplinary endeavor dedicated to exploring the frontiers of creative arts and narrative storytelling. Each narrative, whether a fragment or a more developed piece, offers a unique window into the diverse thematic and stylistic experiments undertaken within our ongoing research program. These stories are not merely isolated literary artifacts; they are integral components of a larger study into the dynamic interplay between human creativity and emerging technological paradigms in storytelling.
Specifically, these daily narratives serve a dual purpose within the project’s core objectives. Firstly, they provide rich material for our work in AI-Assisted Storytelling and Scriptwriting, allowing us to analyze patterns, explore generative ideas, and test alternative plot structures and character arcs through computational methods. Secondly, they illuminate critical insights for Talent Development and Training, highlighting the evolving skills required for creative professionals to effectively manage AI tools, foster digital literacy, and embrace interdisciplinary approaches in the rapidly transforming landscape of immersive technologies and narrative production.

Design Notes and Applied Research

Exploring subjects like Comedy, Gothic, Young Adult Contemporary, Medical Drama, and Gritty Realism further showcases an adaptability crucial for today’s digital storytelling landscape. This collection exemplifies how traditional narrative structures are reimagined and refined for contemporary audiences, reflecting an essential evolution in artistic practice.
This project served as a valuable exploration into the dynamic interplay between narrative craft and emerging digital platforms. The process provided an insightful endeavor for participants, fostering new approaches to content creation and distribution. We found this initiative to be a highly rewarding and experimental journey, yielding significant learning outcomes for all involved in the evolving arts ecosystem.
About the Project
The Unfinished Tales and Short Stories collection was an interdisciplinary arts and narrative storytelling experiment in 2025. It was part of a creative arts and participatory research project by The Arts Incubator Winnipeg and the Art Borups Corners collectives. It focuses on two key areas: AI-Assisted Storytelling and Scriptwriting, exploring AI tools for generating ideas, plot structures, and story arcs; and Talent Development and Training, studying digital skills, literacy and training needs for creative professionals by experimenting with AI and immersive technologies to inform future projects. Funding and support were generously provided by the Ontario Arts Council Multi and Inter-Arts Projects program and the Government of Ontario.
