Weekly Unfinished Tales and Short Stories from our Dataset

This daily collection offers a glimpse into the diverse narrative experiments emerging from our ongoing creative arts and research program, ‘Unfinished Tales and Short Stories.’ Each piece, drawn from our extensive dataset, serves as a unique exploration of genre, character, and setting, reflecting the boundless possibilities inherent in collaborative storytelling. These narratives, often left with tantalizing ambiguities, invite readers to ponder the unresolved, fostering a deeper engagement with the art of narrative construction.

Crucially, these stories are instrumental in advancing the project’s dual objectives. They provide rich material for investigating AI-assisted storytelling and scriptwriting, allowing us to analyze how artificial intelligence can generate novel ideas, intricate plot structures, and alternative story arcs. Simultaneously, by engaging with these varied narrative forms, our talent development and training initiatives gain valuable insights into the evolving skill sets required for creative professionals navigating AI and immersive technologies, digital literacy, and interdisciplinary artistic approaches.

About the Project

The Unfinished Tales and Short Stories collection was an interdisciplinary arts and narrative storytelling experiment in 2025. It was part of a creative arts and participatory research project by The Arts Incubator Winnipeg and the Art Borups Corners collectives. It focuses on two key areas: AI-Assisted Storytelling and Scriptwriting, exploring AI tools for generating ideas, plot structures, and story arcs; and Talent Development and Training, studying digital skills, literacy and training needs for creative professionals by experimenting with AI and immersive technologies to inform future projects. Funding and support were generously provided by the Ontario Arts Council Multi and Inter-Arts Projects program and the Government of Ontario. We thank them for supporting the arts, digital transformation, and applied Artificial Intelligence (AI) research.
