Weekly Unfinished Tales and Short Stories from our Dataset
This compilation of narrative fragments represents a diverse set of data points meticulously gathered from the ‘Unfinished Tales and Short Stories’ project. Each chapter, spanning genres from dark comedy to hardboiled noir and young adult contemporary, offers a unique lens into the intricate process of story construction and thematic exploration. These varied narratives, emerging from our interdisciplinary arts and research program, provide rich material for examining how foundational concepts like community, history, and truth are rendered through distinct literary and artistic frameworks, highlighting the multifaceted nature of human experience and perception within storytelling.
Crucially, these stories serve as invaluable case studies for our project’s dual objectives: advancing AI-assisted scriptwriting and fostering talent development. By analyzing the narrative structures, character arcs, and thematic developments within these diverse pieces, we gain insights into patterns and innovations that can inform AI models for idea generation and plot refinement. Concurrently, the creative challenges and solutions presented within these tales offer practical scenarios for training creative professionals in digital literacy, interdisciplinary collaboration, and the effective management of AI and immersive technologies, equipping them to navigate the evolving landscape of narrative creation.

About the Project
The Unfinished Tales and Short Stories collection was an interdisciplinary arts and narrative storytelling experiment in 2025. It was part of a creative arts and participatory research project by The Arts Incubator Winnipeg and the Art Borups Corners collectives. It focuses on two key areas: AI-Assisted Storytelling and Scriptwriting, exploring AI tools for generating ideas, plot structures, and story arcs; and Talent Development and Training, studying digital skills, literacy and training needs for creative professionals by experimenting with AI and immersive technologies to inform future projects. Funding and support were generously provided by the Ontario Arts Council Multi and Inter-Arts Projects program and the Government of Ontario. We thank them for supporting the arts, digital transformation, and applied Artificial Intelligence (AI) research.
