Melgund Township, Northwestern Ontario exhibition will run from April 17 – May 17.
We’re excited to showcase the work of Dryden-based artist Tanya McArthur as part of our 2026 Spring Arts Exhibition. Well known across Melgund Township and the surrounding region for her involvement in local music gatherings, Tanya brings that same creative spirit into the gallery with a dynamic collection of recent pieces.
McArthur is a multidisciplinary artist whose practice is shaped by family, community, and a lifelong connection to the natural world. From an early age, she was immersed in hands-on creativity—learning woodworking, carving, and a range of traditional crafts while spending time on the land with her family.
Since 1998, she has focused on painting, developing a recognizable style centred on realistic depictions of landscapes and wildlife. Working primarily in acrylics, her work spans a wide variety of surfaces including canvas, wood, glass, and repurposed materials. More recently, she has expanded into watercolour, experimenting with new tools and techniques that continue to evolve her artistic approach.
Deeply connected to her local arts community, McArthur continues to create and collaborate with support from regional groups and fellow artists. In addition to her visual art practice, she remains active in music alongside her husband, Gerry, reflecting a creative life that moves fluidly between mediums.
