Skeletons are up, pumpkin carving is set, and the Rec Hall is packed with events—including games, a free dinner workshop, and $5 breakfast.
If you’ve popped by the Dyment Recreation Hall over the last couple of days, you probably noticed the fall art exhibition is officially down, and the full-on spooky vibes have taken over. The rec team went all out this week—skeletons are hanging from the walls, tables are decked out, and glowing skulls and jack-o’-lanterns are setting the mood just in time for a massive week ahead.
Kick off the creepy festivities this Wednesday, October 29, with afternoon pumpkin carving from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Rec Hall. Bring your sharpest ideas (and your messiest hands) to gut some pumpkins and carve out your best masterpiece before the big night.
Wednesday evening switches gears for an important community check-in. The Nuclear Waste Management Organization (NWMO) is hosting a special working dinner workshop as part of the federal Impact Assessment Act process. They’ll walk us through four studies looking at how different parts of the proposed project could be set up—covering utility corridors, water intake/discharge locations, worker camp spots, and waste management areas. It’s a direct chance for folks in Melgund and surrounding areas to give feedback on options that impact our backyards. Plus, dinner is provided! Just make sure to drop Chantelle an email at cgascon@nwmo.ca to get your name on the dinner list.
By Thursday, it’s strictly fun and games. After a summer hiatus, Games Night is officially back at the Dyment Rec Hall from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Grab your friends, bring your favorite board game, and enjoy a warm bite to eat while catching up with the neighbors.
Finally, roll out of bed on Saturday morning for the monthly Community Breakfast from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. For just $5, you get an all-you-can-eat spread and the best casual hangout in town. Come hungry, leave full, and kick off the weekend right.
