Dyment’s Halloween Week: Pumpkin Guts, Board Games, and Free Dinner
The fall art show has officially packed up, and the Dyment Recreation Hall has undergone a total haunted transformation. Skeletons are dangling from the walls, tables are set for spooky gatherings, and the glow of lit-up skulls and pumpkins is setting the perfect mood. The rec crew worked double-time to pull it all off, just in time for an action-packed week in our neck of the woods.
What’s Happening This Week

Pumpkin Carving Extravaganza
Wednesday | 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM Grab your tools and bring your wildest ideas down to the Dyment Rec Hall. We’re kicking off Halloween prep early with a full afternoon of pumpkin carving. Whether you’re going for classic spooky or weirdly artistic, all ages are welcome to come scoop some guts and carve up a storm.
NWMO Dinner & Workshop
Wednesday Evening Switching gears, the Nuclear Waste Management Organization is holding a special working dinner to dive into four key “Alternative Means Studies” required by the federal Impact Assessment Act. The session breaks down proposed project details—from utility alignments and water intake/discharge plans to accommodation camp sites and waste management areas. It’s a key opportunity for Melgund and surrounding residents to speak up and share local feedback.
- Free dinner provided! Drop a quick note before Wednesday morning to Chantelle at cgascon@nwmo.ca to reserve your spot on the dinner list as the NWMO is providing the meal!
The Return of Games Night
Thursday | 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM After taking a break over the summer, Thursday night games are officially back! Head over to the hall to throw down on board games, share a bite to eat, and catch up with old friends. It’s the easiest way to wind down the week and reconnect with the neighborhood.
$5 All-You-Can-Eat Breakfast
Saturday | 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM Wrap up the week with the absolute best deal in town. The monthly community breakfast returns with a massive spread to get your Saturday off to a flying start. Bring five bucks, bring a big appetite, and sit back with your neighbors over hot coffee and platefuls of breakfast favorites.
