Melgund Recreation, Arts and Culture will debut its newly-renovated gallery at Dyment Recreation Hall featuring Inuk artist Tony Eetak.
Melgund Recreation, Arts and Culture to launch its first exhibition featuring Inuk youth artist Tony Eetak.
MELGUND TOWNSHIP, ON — This year’s 2026 Spring Arts Exhibition marks a historic milestone for Melgund Recreation, Arts and Culture. On April 17, 2026 we are proud to open the doors to our new exhibition space at the Dyment Recreation Hall, featuring local and regional artists. This year, we’re excited to include a multidisciplinary showcase by Winnipeg-based Inuk youth artist Tony Eetak.
For our non-profit, this event is a chance to see a familiar face in a new light. Eetak, a founding member of the Art Borups Corners and The Arts Incubator Winnipeg collectives, will showcase his ongoing exploration of photography and music through May 17. A 2023 National Role Model with Global Dignity Canada, Tony’s work has earned support from a wide range of institutions, including the Canada Council for the Arts, Minneapolis College of Art and Design, Manitoba Agriculture, the Ontario Arts Council, Manitoba Arts Council, OpenAI Researcher Access Program, and the Impact Assessment Agency of Canada.
About the Exhibition
This exhibition is more than a gallery display; it’s a catalyst for community dialogue. Alongside Eetak’s work, the month-long program includes:
- Creative Sessions: Open mic nights and communal music jams.
- Workshops: Guest artist talks and hands-on participatory sessions.
- Vital Dialogues: In-person and virtual discussions on climate change, virtual reality, and the transboundary impacts of nuclear waste management.
As our seasonal exhibitions alternate between Manitoba and Northwestern Ontario, we are honored to host this year’s spring launch in our new permanent home. For more information, contact us at info@artsincubator.ca or visit melgundrecreation.ca.
