Join neighbours and volunteers on June 20 at 9:00 a.m. to raise the event tents and get Dyment Park ready for a full summer of community gatherings.
It’s that time of year again. The snow is long gone, the days are stretching out, and Dyment Park is getting ready to come back to life. Before the music, the markets, and the celebrations can happen, there’s one important job to take care of—raising the event tents.
On Saturday, June 20 at 9:00 a.m., volunteers are invited to come out and lend a hand. The tents are large, solid structures, and it takes a group effort to get them up safely and properly. It’s not complicated work, but it does need people.

Getting Ready for a Full Summer at Dyment Park
These tents aren’t just for one event. They’re part of what makes the whole summer possible.
From the Canada Day Festival to artist markets and community gatherings, these structures provide shade, shelter, and a place for people to come together. Putting them up is one of those quiet, behind-the-scenes efforts that makes everything else run smoothly.
When you help raise the tents, you’re helping build the space where the community will gather all season long.
What to Expect on Tent Raising Day
This is a hands-on, come-as-you-are kind of morning. There’s no need for special skills—just a willingness to help out and be part of the team.
Volunteers from the Local Services Board of Melgund Recreation Committee, along with community organizations and residents, will be working together to get the job done. It’s a good chance to meet people, catch up with neighbours, and spend a few hours doing something practical and worthwhile.
Lunch and refreshments will be provided, so you’ll have time to relax and enjoy the company once the work is done.
