Weekly Unfinished Tales and Short Stories from our Dataset

This compilation presents a selection of narrative experiments drawn from the extensive “Unfinished Tales and Short Stories” collection, an interdisciplinary arts and research initiative. Each piece offers a unique window into diverse narrative forms and thematic explorations, reflecting the breadth of creative output fostered within our ongoing program. These daily story excerpts serve as a dynamic archive, showcasing the project’s commitment to pushing the boundaries of contemporary storytelling.

Beyond their intrinsic narrative value, these stories are instrumental to our core research objectives. They provide rich datasets for examining the efficacy of AI-assisted tools in generating plot structures, character arcs, and alternative narrative pathways, contributing to advancements in AI-Assisted Storytelling and Scriptwriting. Concurrently, their creation and analysis offer invaluable insights into the evolving skill sets required for creative professionals navigating AI and immersive technologies, directly informing our Talent Development and Training mandates for digital literacy and interdisciplinary practice.

Design Notes and Applied Research

Today’s collection, spanning genres from Slice of Life to Noir and subjects like Adventure and Domestic Thriller, exemplifies the diverse narrative skills honed within our program. This breadth encourages participants to develop versatile storytelling techniques, character development, and thematic depth across various artistic forms. Such a varied showcase also underscores how digital platforms facilitate the creation, curation, and dissemination of an expansive range of artistic expressions, marking a clear evolution in contemporary storytelling.

This compilation directly supports our project’s mission to explore skills development and the ongoing digital transformation within the arts. Engaging with such a rich array of narratives proved to be an exceptionally rewarding endeavor for all involved, fostering creative growth and collaboration. It served as a valuable experiment, demonstrating the potential for innovative artistic practice and audience connection in the digital age.

About the Project

The Unfinished Tales and Short Stories collection was an interdisciplinary arts and narrative storytelling experiment in 2025. It was part of a creative arts and participatory research project by The Arts Incubator Winnipeg and the Art Borups Corners collectives. It focuses on two key areas: AI-Assisted Storytelling and Scriptwriting, exploring AI tools for generating ideas, plot structures, and story arcs; and Talent Development and Training, studying digital skills, literacy and training needs for creative professionals by experimenting with AI and immersive technologies to inform future projects. Funding and support were generously provided by the Ontario Arts Council Multi and Inter-Arts Projects program and the Government of Ontario. We thank them for supporting the arts, digital transformation, and applied Artificial Intelligence (AI) research.
