Pete and Pat put in the groundwork for new concrete pads at the Melgund recreation complex.

This weekend, the Local Services Board of Melgund Recreation Committee and Melgund Recreation, Arts and Culture were out in full force, getting the complex ready for new concrete pads to improve accessibility. Pete and Pat were busy digging and grading around the wheelchair ramps and terrace entrances, preparing the ground for safer, more accessible approaches.

The work is made possible with support from the Ontario Trillium Foundation’s Capital Grants program and the Nuclear Waste Management Organization. We’re grateful for their support as we make improvements that will help more people enjoy the complex, take part in activities and events, and stay active in the community.

It takes a lot of hands-on work to make a community space more welcoming, and this weekend was another step in the right direction.
