Infrastructure improvements at the recreation hall are supporting an expanding program of arts and cultural activity.

More than 80 people from across Northwestern Ontario came to the Dyment Recreation Hall for the second annual Fall Artist Market, Arts Exhibition and Music Jam.

The event brought together regional artists, crafters, musicians and visitors for an afternoon of artwork, handmade goods and live music. There were also plenty of hotdogs and hamburgers on the grill.

The gathering caps off a busy summer of arts, recreation and cultural activity in Melgund Township. The Local Services Board of Melgund has been championing these activities through ongoing infrastructure improvements at the Dyment Recreation Hall, helping strengthen the facility as a community space.

The fall market also marks another step in the hall’s development as a place where regional artists can exhibit their work and residents can gather around creative activity.

The exhibition remains open to visitors. The Dyment Recreation Hall is open Mondays and Wednesdays from 1–4 p.m. for anyone who would like to come out and see the artwork.

The event was supported by Art Borups Corners, the Arts Incubator Winnipeg, We The Nuclear Free North, Melgund Recreation Arts and Culture, the Local Services Board of Melgund, the Nuclear Waste Management Organization (NWMO) and the Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF).
