Dryden Artist Tanya McArthur Presents New Watercolour Floral and Landscape Series at 2026 Spring Arts Exhibition in Melgund Township
The 2026 Spring Arts Exhibition in Melgund Township, Northwestern Ontario, proudly features a striking new watercolour collection by Dryden artist Tanya McArthur. Recognized in the region for her involvement in local arts and music communities, McArthur is presenting a fresh body of work that highlights her continued artistic evolution and growing mastery of watercolour painting.
This year’s exhibition places special emphasis on McArthur’s transition into watercolour, where she explores floral subjects and Northern Ontario landscapes with a renewed sense of softness, light, and movement. Her paintings capture the quiet detail of blooming flowers alongside expansive natural scenes, using layered washes, subtle tonal shifts, and expressive colour to create depth and atmosphere.
The watercolour series marks an important expansion of McArthur’s established artistic practice. With decades of experience working in acrylics across a wide range of surfaces—including canvas, wood, glass, and found objects—she has built a reputation for detailed realism and a strong connection to place. Her latest work builds on that foundation while embracing the fluid, intuitive qualities of watercolour.
Rooted in a lifelong connection to family, craft traditions, and the landscapes of Northwestern Ontario, McArthur’s work reflects both personal history and regional identity. The current collection offers viewers an intimate perspective on familiar natural subjects, reimagined through a softer, more atmospheric medium that emphasizes light, texture, and natural flow.
Her participation in the 2026 Spring Arts Exhibition adds a vibrant new dimension to this year’s showcase, bringing together contemporary regional voices in a shared celebration of creativity and place.
