Election Meeting Minutes for Tuesday, September 23, 2025 – 7:00 p.m. – Dyment Recreation Hall

Attendance

Present were: Terri Bell, Janet Connor, Michelle Robinson, Morris Robinson, Pete Dunham, Karen Daignault, Pat Daignault, Maurice Betournay, Gary Fischer, Jamie Bell, Jason Holroyd, Norm Eady, Robert Evans, Sara Fischer, Sean Merritt, and guest Sarah McKenzie (MNEDG).

Call to Order

The meeting was called to order at 7:02 p.m.

Approval of Previous Minutes

Janet Connor read the minutes of the September 21, 2024 meeting.
Motion: Moved by Janet Connor, seconded by Morris Robinson, to accept the minutes.
Carried.

Introductions

All attendees introduced themselves.

Nominations for Board Members

The floor was opened for nominations:

  • Jason nominated Norm Eady – Accepted
  • Karen nominated Pat Daignault – Accepted
  • Pat nominated Sean Merritt – Accepted
  • Michelle nominated Morris Robinson – Accepted
  • Pete nominated Sara Fischer – Declined
  • Karen nominated Janet Connor – Accepted
  • Michelle nominated Pete Dunham – Declined

Nominations were closed.

Election Results

Nominees for the Board were: Norm Eady, Pat Daignault, Sean Merritt, Morris Robinson, and Janet Connor.

Voting took place by ballot. The 2025–2028 LSB will consist of:

  • Norm Eady
  • Pat Daignault
  • Sean Merritt

Motion: Moved by Janet Connor, seconded by Morris Robinson, that the ballots be destroyed.
Carried.

The term for the new Board is three years, October 1, 2025, to September 30, 2028.

Next Steps for the New Board

  • The new Board will decide on a Secretary-Treasurer, set an honorarium, and pass a by-law to appoint that person.
  • The first meeting of the new Board will be Wednesday, October 8, 2025, at 7:00 p.m. at the hall, at which time the Chairperson will be chosen.

Acknowledgements

  • Karen Daignault thanked the outgoing Board for their service.
  • Janet Connor congratulated those elected and thanked everyone for attending.

Adjournment

Motion: Moved by Janet Connor, seconded by Morris Robinson, to adjourn the meeting at 7:30 p.m.
Carried.

On April 22, 2026, the Impact Assessment Agency of Canada (IAAC) will host a public Open House on the Nuclear Waste Management Organization (NWMO) Deep Geological Repository (DGR) for Canada’s Used Nuclear Fuel Project. Taking place from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Dyment Recreation Hall, the session will include a short presentation followed by a drop-in open house where residents can explore materials, ask questions, and speak directly with IAAC staff about the federal impact assessment process in an accessible, community-focused setting.
