Human Environment (People) Baseline High Priority

Request the immediate commissioning of a 'Local-Regional Land Use and Recreation Study' to fill the admitted gap in regional assessments for the Melgund, Dyment, and Borups Corners area.

Strategic Rationale

"The Proponent's admission that no regional assessments exist indicates a failure to capture the specific socio-economic reality of the Local Services Board area. As an unorganized territory, the community's well-being is tied to informal networks, including hunting grounds, fishing spots, and snowmobile trails, which are not captured in general public sources. By demanding this study, the community ensures that the 'way of life' and the usage of the Dyment Recreation Hall are formally documented as Valued Components. This prevents the Proponent from treating the area as an empty industrial zone and ensures that potential disruptions to recreational access are identified and mitigated early."
