Community Fire and Feast - Dyment Recreation Hall

Community members came out for a great afternnon of food and music around the fire.

Celebrating Family Day this weekend at the Dyment Recreation Hall and Complex

The winter chill is no match for the spirit of togetherness in our neighborhood this year. While Family Day officially arrives tomorrow, the community is getting a head start on the festivities today at the Dyment Recreation Hall. What began as a simple holiday tradition has blossomed into a full-scale celebration of local connection, bringing neighbors out of their homes and into a shared space of joy and relaxation.

The centerpiece of the outdoor experience is a crackling community fire, serving as both a literal and figurative heart for the event. Here, the simple pleasures of winter take center stage as families gather to roast hot dogs and craft the perfect golden-brown s’mores. There is something timeless about the smell of woodsmoke and the sight of children laughing over melting marshmallows that sets the perfect tone for a weekend dedicated to those we hold dear.

As the afternoon progresses, the energy shifts inside for a highly anticipated musical showcase. The Birdfolk Buskers are taking the stage for an open-mic event that promises to be as eclectic as it is entertaining. Known for their infectious rhythm and community-first approach, the Buskers provide the perfect backdrop for local talent to shine. Whether you’re a seasoned performer or a first-time singer, the atmosphere is one of pure encouragement and collective appreciation.

A warm fire and a spread of snacks set the stage for an early Family Day celebration.

Community Feast around the Fire

Of course, no community gathering is complete without a feast. Beyond the campfire treats, the Hall is buzzing with a spread of food designed to fuel a day of dancing and socializing. This isn’t just about the meal, though—it’s about the conversations sparked over shared plates and the new friendships forged between the music sets. It is in these unscripted moments that the true fabric of our community is strengthened.

Ultimately, today’s event at Dyment Recreation Hall is a beautiful reminder of why Family Day exists. It is a time to pause, celebrate our roots, and invest in the relationships that make our town feel like home. By the time the last chord is struck and the fire fades to embers, attendees will leave with more than just full stomachs—they’ll carry a renewed sense of belonging to see them through the rest of the season.

Events run until 7:00 p.m. All are welcome!
